Showtime’s ‘Roadies’ Debuts June 26
And this makes it the ideal time to release a first look a new show about the music industry.
Not unlike Almost Famous, the show follows around a fictional band, but it’s the crew who gets the concerts ready that takes the spotlight.
Having started out as a Rolling Stone and Cream journalist at the precious age of 15-years-old, and directing iconic music films like “Almost Famous”, it’s safe to say that filmmaker Cameron Crowe knows about a little bit about rock n’ roll. Roadies “chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes and pays homage to the backstage workers who put the show on the road”, according to Showtime’s description. Television. Executive producers include Winnie Holzman, J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and Len Goldstein. The show intends to give an “insider’s look” into the misunderstood life of bunch of touring roadies, the folks who “put the show on the road” while traveling across the United States with a popular band. Roadies’ inaugural season is expected to run for 10 episodes. The trailer, which features the song “Hard Sun” by Eddie Vedder, stars Luke Wilson, Carla Gugino, Imogen Poots, Rafe Spall, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Peter Cambor, Colson Baker, and Ron White. Roadies will premiere on June 26, 2016. Additionally, Luis Guzman (Boogie Nights), Jacqueline Byers (The Strain), Finesse Mitchell (Saturday Night Live), Branscombe Richmond (Forgetting Sarah Marshall), and Tanc Sade (Matador, Gilmore Girls) will guest star.
