Cruz: New Hampshire, Iowa Show Only I Can Beat Trump
Following Donald Trump’s New Hampshire primary rout, arch-conservative rival Ted Cruz launched a sharp offensive today against the billionaire frontrunner, heralding a brutal battle for the next Republican contest in SC.
“Based on personality, Chris Christie is a natural fit for Donald Trump”, said Mark Meckler, president of the conservative Citizens for Self-Governance in California. “I will continue to serve in order to restore citizen government to this great nation so that together we may fulfill our potential”.
After Iowa made its “victims” among Republican candidates, making them suspend their campaigns, it was expected to see similar moves after New Hampshire.
A disappointing sixth-place finish in Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary raised doubts about the combative New Jersey governor’s viability as a candidate for the November 8 election. Ted Cruz of Texas, Bush and Rubio all got between 10.6 percent and 11.6 percent of the vote – means the race could turn into a long slog for weeks without a clear resolution. After a third-place finish in the February 1 Iowa caucuses, with a higher percentage of the vote than anyone predicted, Rubio was riding a wave of what supporters called “Marco-mentum”. Marco Rubio, with Christie landing blows on Rubio’s scripted answers in Saturday night’s debate.
Jim Cooley of Winder said he drove to SC to support Trump for president. In order to win SC, the Bush campaign is pulling out all the stops and that includes unveiling another secret weapon: George W. Bush. “Of course I think I can compete”, Kasich said.
Meanwhile, on the Democratic side, the race has tightened by six points since Bernie Sanders’s big win in New Hampshire.
An NBC News-Wall Street Journal poll released last month showed Ben Carson polling at eight percent in SC. Previously, Kasich never received more than 4 percent backing in the Palmetto State.
“We have a country that we’re proud of and we love and we’re not going to lose”, Trump recites in the positive spot.
Nearly all the Republican presidential candidates will appear in the CBS News Republican debate Saturday, the network announced Friday.
In his very somber speech Tuesday night, Christie said his message had been heard by many and many people in New Hampshire stood by it, only not enough.
“I think Chris was someone who somehow concluded that attacking me would help him in his campaign, obviously it didn’t work”, Rubio said on “The Situation Room”.
