Bugaboo bugged over buggy-thrusting, bikini-clad jogger model ad
In the ad, Stiekema is wearing tiny black bottoms, a black and white bikini top (where’s the sports bra!?), and is showing off her abs and toned legs.
Haute stroller company Bugaboo is under fire for an ad featuring a bikini-clad model jogging while pushing the coveted carriage. Other mothers began responding, with one commenter suggesting that those criticizing the campaign were “jealous”.
Comments of a similar nature followed.
Stiekema tells Bugaboo in the brand’s online journal that she loves running. “Perfectly shot picture! She is one hot mama!”
“When I’m at home, I try to work out every day, and I’ll always put on my workout gear if my hotel has a small gym or the location is good for running”, she said. There’s an image to leave you with.’. “I can’t say that I would choose that for my jogging attire”.
The intent of the Bugaboo stroller ad was clearly to show how their product fits the lifestyle of active moms (and dads).
Some women even got a kick out of the photo.
‘Really ladies? Are you that judgmental or jealous that you have to question what she is running in?
Others adopted a more “if you’ve got it flaunt it” attitude, however. “It’s great to go running with your kids and set a positive example”, she says.
The image was also shared on Instagram, with comments from mothers including: “Pretty ridiculous. Who doesn’t run in a bikini??” wrote one mom.
Speaking to MailOnline about the image, blogger and mother-of-one, Nicola Bonn, said: ‘ Is this woman for real?

‘Not to mention nappy bag, snacks, hundreds of toys and why isn’t she covered in snot?
“Hm, I don’t look like her, but obvs if I had the right stroller I would”.
Body image expert, Leslie Goldman, explained why mothers perceived the advertisement as something absurd.
Speaking in a statement to TODAY, the company said: ‘We want to inspire moms and dads everywhere to explore the world with their families, while keeping up with an active and healthy lifestyle.’.
