Cam Newton defends interview, knows he’s a sore loser
The league MVP received national criticism for walking out during media availability. Archie Manning said his son texted Saints coach Sean Payton and quarterback Drew Brees from the locker room in Miami. However, ironically, Inquisitr previously reported on the same topic.
Newton often sports the Superman logo on his Under Armour gear, including his cleats, and the former Auburn star had it on his T-shirt warming up for Super Bowl 50. Like Cam Newton, Manning had a human reaction due to being upset.
Added Newton: “I have said it since Day 1”.
“I know one thing: I wouldn’t want to play them”. I want to go, you know, hug my family. “I didn’t get the fumble, but we can play tit-for-tat”, he said. This league is a great league with or without me. At the end of the day, when you invest so much time and sacrifice so much and things don’t go as planned, the emotions take over. So many people talked about Cam.
“OK, you say my effort?”
Joe Johnson had the Nuggets exactly where he wanted them twice during Monday night’s National Basketball Association action.
“See, that’s what I don’t understand”.
“I’m proud of who he is as a competitor and a football player”, coach Ron Rivera said.
In some past Carolina defeats, he’s sat distraught at his locker still in his uniform for more than 30 minutes after the conclusion of the game. For me, things [are] pretty much unchanged. But the Michigan State product didn’t want to keep the ball for himself, instead he unselfishly passed it over to The Sheriff.
Newton had the nerve to live Lombardi’s preach and he’s still paying a heavy price two days after the game. And they didn’t jump on the ball when the fumbles happened.
Newton says he has no more tears to cry after a respectable 17-2 season, and the team will be back with the same enthusiasm next year.
Do you have any regrets on how you handled the post-game interview? Perhaps it could best be summed in the following tweet.
Archie Manning told reporters last week “I think Peyton’s done in Denver”, but John Elway on Tuesday said no decision has been made.
“You have to talk when you win and you have to talk when you lose”, Shaq said. Nevertheless, Cam said that they will return. This year is different.
Newton didn’t think hypothetical comparisons to what other quarterbacks may have done in the same situation were necessarily fair. Thoughts on his comments?
