In South Carolina, Kasich has barely registered in polls to date. He later picked up the endorsement of South Carolina’s former first lady Iris Campbell, a longtime Bush family ally.

Kasich has stood out in the 2016 presidential field for a message that is rooted in the “compassionate conservative” ethos, which helped propel George W. Bush to the White House. Ted Cruz on Tuesday with the preliminary tally, finishing ahead of Rubio was considered a win for Bush’s campaign.

Trump says on “CBS This Morning” that he and Christie spoke after the New Hampshire primary Tuesday, in which Trump won a big victory and Christie fared poorly. The following Tuesday, GOP voters make their choice in Nevada, while the Democratic primary in SC is on February 27. “I’m going to keep doing what I’m doing”.

That’s according to Rubio and his senior team, who told The Associated Press that the Republican nomination fight will likely go on for another three months, if not longer.

Jeb Bush has drawn large crowds during his appearances in SC on Wednesday and Thursday after experiencing something of a comeback with a fourth place finish in New Hampshire.

“There’s magic in the air in this campaign because we don’t see this as another campaign”, he continued. Rubio went from a third place showing in Iowa to fifth place in New Hampshire with 10.5 percent.

Kasich notes his rivals are already ramping up attacks against him after his second place finish in New Hampshire on Tuesday. “Jeb is the candidate coming out of the Granite State with momentum, a great national ground game and path forward”, the memo obtained by CNN said.

Clinton, meanwhile, remained out of sight after her stinging defeat in New Hampshire, where both she and her husband, former President Bill Clinton, previously had warm political memories.

The Bush campaign believes the ex-president can have a positive impact in SC, which has a sizable number of US military facilities and military veterans who have supported the former commander-in-chief.

The Georgia Democrat told reporters at a news conference Thursday that he was involved in the sit-ins, the Freedom Rides, the March on Washington and the march from Selma to Montgomery.
