Seeming Fitbit malfunction leads to pregnancy discovery
Or it could be that you accidentally kept the Fitbit on during sex – like this woman who did so a year ago and saw a number of heart rate spikes during her steamy, eight-minute session.
“I’m not sure if something is wrong with the sensor”, he wrote.
David Trinidad wondered whether the device’s sensor was functioning properly when he sought answers to Ivonne Trinidad’s Fitbit reading on the social aggregating site Reddit.
At first, he thought that their unit is broken and in need of fix, but when another user posted this comment “Has she experienced anything really stressful in the last few days or is it a possibility she is pregnant?” Also her calories burned do seem accurate.
Trinidad was both excited and nervous at the thought of his wife being pregnant.
“[The Fitbit] is showing her heartbeat being consistently high over the last few days”, he wrote.
David thanked everyone in Reddit for helping them determine the real score about her wife’s high heart rate.
“I never even knew that was a legitimate symptom”, David tells Buzzfeed News.
According to BuzzFeed, David said it was definitely possible since the couple had been trying for months, but he had no idea her heart rate could reveal this information.
“We’re happy, the grandparents are very happy”, Trinidad said. “I was aware of some of the early signs of pregnancy, but elevated heart rate wasn’t among them“. And now, you can apparently add pregnancy testing to that list… kind of.
Mashable reports that David Trinidad, who goes by the name YoungPTone on Reddit, recently discovered that his wife Ivonne was pregnant after looking at some out-of-the-ordinary Fitbit data.
The rise of FitBit fitness trackers means a lot of convenience to health buff and fitness gurus alike.
A normal resting heart rate is between 60 and 100 beats per minute, according to the American Heart Association.
