Louis van Gaal hails Manchester United’s ‘sparkling’ football before Chelsea game
Manchester United have held negotiations with Jose Mourinho’s representatives about the possibility of him taking over as Old Trafford boss at the end of the season.
The Blues also scored 73 goals under the Portuguese manager in that campaign, the second highest in the league after Manchester City and 11 more than Manchester United, while conceding the fewest goals in the league. The report stated that “no agreement has been reached, and the club have made no comment”.
Van Gaal said he had good reason for optimism after the win over Stoke followed an FA Cup victory at Championship team Derby County.
Shaw will no doubt be keeping a close eye on proceedings as Van Gaal and his Manchester United side are preparing for their Premier League clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon. “Maybe, we have to see if he plays there on Sunday”.
The report in Spanish newspaper Marca, has even claimed the exact date of Mourinho’s arrival, noting that the 53 year old will take over in the summer, allowing Louis van Gaal to see out this season.
When the board has such confidence, the pressure is much higher than when they say it is your last game or something like that. “Stoke City played Liverpool off the pitch in the Capital One Cup but they lost on penalties”.
“We have the feeling because we are winning two times in a row and with sparkling football, goals and clean sheets”, he explained. “He has trained with the first team, so that’s good”, said Van Gaal.
“It’s not that he can train with us but, still, he is doing well”.
‘It is not because of the change of attitude of Mr Louis van Gaal or another way of training. “We are always working hard and very professionally under the philosophy of Louis van Gaal”.
Last month it was claimed the former Chelsea boss penned a six-page letter to United expressing his interest in succeeding Van Gaal.
