Carmelo Anthony, Kevin Love could be moved in three-team deal
The Cavaliers & the Celtics have been very active in the trade market and this hypothetical trade would fill their needs. Team executives, however, are treating the league’s biggest annual gathering as something different altogether: a summit to discuss potential deals with Thursday’s trade deadline fast approaching.
I have been talking about trading Carmelo Anthony for the last month.
Isola’s report Friday night included minimal details about the actual trade, but suggested “very preliminary discussions” have been held to possibly expand the deal to three teams and send New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony to Cleveland.
Of course, the Knicks have to agree that the rebuilding path is correct, the Cavaliers must officially give up on Love fitting in and the Celtics would have to offer enough to facilitate this trade. These talks reportedly haven’t progressed but it still remains a possibility that they can intensify before the February 18th trade deadline.
With a record of 23-32, the New York Knicks are not a good basketball team.
“The Knicks would receive draft picks and players in return”, according to Isola. Of course, in order for any deal involving ‘Melo to go through, he would need to waive his no-trade clause.

Anthony was speaking on Friday as part of the kickoff to All-Star weekend festivities.
By acquiring Mozgov and draft picks (from Boston which might include Brooklyn Nets’ pick), they will be able surround Porzingis with a lot of young talent. “That’s the reason why I’m in NY, so it just bothers me when I started hearing all these trade rumors and trade talks”. Whether or not it’s a pride factor because he does not want to be known as a “championship chaser” is anyone’s guess, but Anthony would instantly make the Cleveland Cavaliers a championship contender this season. “But it’s not a conversation for right now”, Anthony said via the same article.
“I think now is a time we should lay everything out on the table and come to an agreement”, Anthony said. “I think that’s what we all talk about every time we get together”.
Interesting that Anthony did not flat-out just say no, that he is open to having a conversation about possibly being traded with his family.
Melo’s no-trade clause can (and probably will) put a quick end to even the most basic of discussions. “One in NY is better than multiple somewhere else”. Dwyane Wade made what he thought was a great play, then yelled in disbelief when it didn’t work out to his liking. Because you realize you just can’t do it all by yourself.
