State Supreme Court race heats up as primary nears
Please join Vel Phillips supporting Judge JoAnne Kloppenburg on February 16.
“Judge JoAnne Kloppenburg: she’s different”, the narrator says.
We need Justices who can not be “bamboozled” by partisan agendas that threaten the ability of our Court to function as an independent check and balance on the other branches of government.
The group cited her 2013 application for the Milwaukee County Circuit Court, in which she classified her legal experience as 95 percent in civil practice and 5 percent in family issues, with none in criminal law.
He was appointed to the court by Gov. Tommy Thompson in 1996 and has been re-elected four times in Milwaukee County without opposition. “Now Gov. Walker’s money machine is trying to buy the race, pouring $1 million in before the primary to protect the crony who owes her spot on the bench to being appointed by Walker an unprecedented three times in just three years”. As an Appeals Court judge, Kloppenburg is carefully attuned to the workings of the Supreme Court and she also has decades of invaluable experience in the attorney general’s office. She’s the only candidate in the race who has travelled to all 72 Counties, the only candidate with public supporters from every County. To take advantage of that opportunity we need the right candidate.
Donald and Kloppenburg have tried to turn Bradley’s outside support against her, saying money from groups that don’t have to disclose their donors doesn’t belong in the race. I have issued hundreds of written decisions.
“Our efforts have highlighted Justice Rebecca Bradley’s successful record of bringing people together to take on Wisconsin’s most pressing challenges”. To learn more about Judge Joe Donald, go to joedonaldforjustice.com. She expands on the concept in a statement on her campaign website, which reads: “The role of a justice is to interpret the law, not invent it. The people of Wisconsin are best served by justices who understand and embrace their duty to state what the law is, not what they prefer it to be”. Narrowly lost to state Supreme Court Justice David Prosser in hotly contested 2011 election. “I am truly thankful for all of the support people throughout the state have shown me”. “I am proud to support her”.
Judge Kloppenburg is the only candidate in this campaign who has shown she can win this race and stand up, as a Justice on our Supreme Court, to the partisan politics and unregulated special interests that have no place on the Court.
In the three-way primary for a 10-year term on the state Supreme Court, the Shepherd is endorsing both Milwaukee Circuit Court Judge Joe Donald and District 4 Appeals Court Presiding Judge JoAnne Kloppenburg.
