Deadpool Sets New February Preview Record with $12.7 Million
The two heroes want to recruit Deadpool for a slot in the X-Men, but he isn’t interested.
Turn back now! Spoilers ahead!
Thankfully, Reynolds can now keep The Green Lantern in his past, as all eyes are on him for his role in his latest film Deadpool.
“We got tax breaks to get the movie done the way we wanted to get it done”, he reveals.
“You’re still here? It’s over”. Now Wade can take a bullet in the rectum and make a amusing out of it while the camera goes in for a close-up.
If superhero movies are going to continue to dominate the pop-cultural landscape for the foreseeable future (and they are), “Deadpool” is at least refreshing in its willingness to try something new. The sequel? We’re gonna have Cable. “Mel Gibson, Dolph Lundgren, Keira Knightley – she’s got range”. Even the opening and ending credits were awesome. “It’s a total d– move”. While there’s plenty of evidence that director Tim Miller is actually very smart, the movie has nothing worthwhile to say about anything. It earns every single bit of its R rating, so please don’t take your kids to go see it. Analysts are calling for the film to make anywhere from milion to million.
Rumours of the character’s appearance have always been flying around, especially since Reynolds’ highly suggestive him at a recent fan event, yet this is presumably confirmation those rumours are true.
The big thing with Cable is that in addition to telekinesis, he can time travel. Reese and Wernick spoke to TIME about the raunchiest of their many raunchy lines, their approach to inside jokes and what Deadpool has in common with Donald Trump. It did seem like an inevitability, however, in light of the pair’s lengthy history together in the Cable & Deadpool comics series. Cable also had a 50-issue comic series with Deadpool, which was canceled after 50 issues. The movie sets a flippant tone with its opening credit sequence, in which the cast members are listed as A Hot Chick, A Sidekick, A CGI Character and, in the lead, God’s Perfect Idiot.
“Deadpool” might feel innovative, but the story itself is standard-issue: guy meets girl, guy saves girl. Ryan and Baccarin both bring their acting game, and the film delivers on the kind of elaborate graphic violence that we never see during Iron Man’s exploits.
