Richard Linklater May Join Jennifer Lawrence for ‘The Rosie Project’
Sony and Columbia Pictures have the film rights to the book, and have already tapped the Internet’s favourite person Jennifer Lawrence to fill the titular role of Rosie Jarman.
Richard Linklater is in talks to direct Jennifer Lawrence in “The Rosie Project“.
As said by Deadline, Linklater is the leading candidate to replace the Lego Movie directorial team of Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who left The Rosie Project to take over the Han Solo standalone film in the Star Wars series.
“Rosie“, based on the novel by Graeme Simsion, focuses on an eccentric genetics professor who creates a scientific survey to make up for his lack of social skills and find the flawless love match. “That goes awry when he meets Rosie (Lawrence), a mismatched woman who becomes irresistible to him”.
Meanwhile Variety also reported on Monday that Richard’s latest offering, a baseball comedy formerly titled That’s What I’m Talking About, will have an April 2016 release date.
From producer Annapurna and distributor Paramount, Linklater’s untitled film is about college baseball players in the 1980s and stars Blake Jenner, Ryan Guzman, Tyler Hoechlin and Wyatt Russell.
Linklater is, of course, no stranger to romantic comedy-style films, with a string of critical darlings and modern classics under his belt such as Dazed & Confused, Before Sunset, Before Sunrise, and School of Rock.
