Deadpool lets Ryan Reynolds bring back his smirk
After easily the best and most honest opening credit sequence in years (set to the incongruous tune of Juice Newton’s Angel Of The Morning), we then flash back and forth as Deadpool tells his story to the camera while awaiting the arrival of his nemesis.
Comic books don’t have to be just for children and nothing proved that more than the comic-to-film adaptation of Marvel’s Deadpool, played by the foul-mouthed, amusing man Ryan Reynolds.
The humor and action are certainly highlights of Deadpool, but the main highlight of the film is without a doubt Ryan Reynolds. Most importantly, Deadpool is given a love interest, Vanessa (Morena Baccarin), who is much more fleshed out than her comic book counterpart and never falls in the generic mess of male-written “strong” female characters.
The film is Marvel’s first R-Rated superhero outing – and given its warm reception – probably won’t be its last.
Are you planning to or have you seen Deadpool?
“So if you watch the movie, it’s partly me playing it, and then I was just like, ‘I can’t do this, ‘ and then they have another actor [play Deadpool]”.
What are your thoughts on the Ryan Reynolds Green Lantern news?
As a result though, the film leans very heavily on humour – from the exaggerated jokes in the opening sequence, which is one of the most visually spectacular parts of the film, to the non-stop running of the mouth of most of the characters.
The film will definitely get better collections over the weekend thanks to the positive reviews..
“Deadpool” is an R-rated superhero movie full of graphic violence and offensive language, and that may be actually a good thing for its box office.
Don’t get us wrong, the film has its disarming charms. Two traditional X-Men types, Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand) and Colossus (the aforementioned CGI character), mostly stand around enduring insults. “It nearly didn’t matter what her powers were, we just loved the name so much”. It was surely a big gamble for him after the debacle of “Green Lantern” but the gamble surely pays off as the goofy and always-talkative Deadpool who breaks the fourth wall, keeps interacting with the audience and makes them laugh.
