Charles Barkley: Steph Curry ‘not a great playmaker … just a good shooter’

Klay Thompson out-gunned his Golden State Warriors teammate Stephen Curry and Phoenix Suns rookie Devin Booker in the three-point contest, after Minnesota Timberwolves rookie centre Karl-Anthony Towns won the skills challenge.

“Obviously, it doesn’t mean a thing if you don’t win the ring, but if we can do both of those things, it’s got to be one of the most special seasons in sports history, and it will be such a privilege to be a part of”, Warriors guard Klay Thompson said. Instead, Curry is putting up great numbers that are skewed downward because the Warriors are so good and he doesn’t need to play as much, and the league has slowed down with teams play more defence than they did in decades past.

“There’s definitely a bond with second-round picks and guys that have just been counted out”, Thomas said.

Curry is averaging an NBA-leading 29.8 points per game to go along with 6.6 assists – which does not include his league-leading 2.4 hockey assists per game (passes that lead to assists) – 2.1 steals, and a kazillion 3-pointers.

Curry will suit up for the Western Conference team for Sunday’s 65th all-star game, the first time the NBA’s annual festivities have been held outside the United States.

“I’m nearly kind of living vicariously through Stephen because we all knew that he was going to be good”, Mack said.

“Oh, I came in today at I think it was 11:00 in the morning and got a practice run”, Towns said after the competition.

When asked if he believed that Steph Curry is an incredible playmaker or if his presence on the court opens up the game for his teammates, Barkley again balked at complementing Curry’s game: ‘He’s not a great playmaker.

“Curry is changing the way the game is played before our eyes”, Dallas Mavericks head coach Rick Carlisle said in December to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. It was a circus, but one the National Basketball Association has grown to adopt over the last few seasons.
