Gender politics is backfiring for Democrat hopeful Hillary Clinton
And she said it last night: just because I’ve received money from Wall Street doesn’t mean I am in their pocket. Sanders needs a decisive win to help him peel away Clinton supporters in more diverse states, where he trails.
“And I will say this to them”, Clinton continued.
“The New Hampshire I knew would not have voted for me if I had done that”, he declared at a get out the vote rally in Milford.
“Again, I think, you know, the tactics of trying to, you know, distract voters form the real issues in this country, you know, the economy’s rigged, it’s sending too much wealth to the top, it’s held in place by a corrupt system of campaign finance, that’s the message that we want to talk about”, Devine said.
At the rally, Clinton made some remarks towards Sanders.
Clinton said Sanders ran a negative TV ad against her. But the 30-second spot never mentions her name.
Hillary for America Senior Spokesperson Karen Finney refused to denounce comments by Gloria Steinem and former Secretary of State Madeline Albright about women who don’t support Hillary Clinton on Monday’s “CNN Newsroom”.
Ms. Clinton barely scraped by in the Iowa Caucuses last week, and polls show her trailing, though close, in New Hampshire, the Vermont senator’s backyard.
“I don’t have any insight into her position on this”, Hillary told Newscenter 5’s political reporter Janet Wu about Warren’s endorsement.
Over the weekend, the Associated Press flagged another dynamic at play in the Granite State, and it’s more bad news for Clinton.
If Clinton is the nominee, Bernie Sanders deserves a standing ovation for what he’s done.
“When I think about what young people today have gone through, what they have known from our country, starting with a frightful attack on 9/11, going into the great recession, there is no wonder that they along with so many of us are saying, wait a minute, we are better than this, we can do more”, she said.
“The point is her first instinct was ‘What can I do to help?’ Her opponent, what was the first thing he said? I’m very committed to them; they’re committed to doing the best we can”. A lot of them are not old enough to have voted for or remember the Clinton White House.
And as Politico reported, both Bill and Hillary Clinton had been considering a revamp of Brooklyn-based staff after the first four primaries ended, but now might insist on change even sooner.
Sanders, who has railed against Wall Street excess, called it a dishonest attack by a desperate campaign. “It’s disgusting. Look we don’t want that crap”.
Of note as the rival campaigns find themselves locked in a battle over the employment of sexism by supporters this week, the Reuters poll also finds Sanders garnering more support from women than men across every age group.
