Christie ends bid for the White House
It was a surprise to both parties, while many believed voters would stick to their roots embracing more experienced candidates like Clinton or one of the Republican lawmakers. Trump has dominated the Republican race and won the party primary in New Hampshire on a wave of voter anger at traditional US politicians.
Trump, the brash real estate billionaire and television personality who has never held public office, had 35 percent among the Republicans, with moderate Ohio Governor John Kasich a distant second with 16 percent.
Despite the disappointing outcome on Tuesday night, Cruz said that he can still win the presidential nomination. But, like former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Kasich has experience as a chief executive and recognizes the need to compromise with lawmakers.
If running for president gave Gov. Chris Christie a case of Potomac Fever, there are ways he can find treatment other than running at the top of the Republican ticket.
On the other side of things, the Republican Party is also seeing a enormous deficit for virtually all of the candidates in the SC polls.
Bernie Sanders is giving Hillary Clinton a run for her money – $27 at a time. The Democrats’ New Hampshire victor, Bernie Sanders, had breakfast Wednesday in NY with the Rev. Al Sharpton, hoping to boost his appeal with minorities. “I do not want black concerns to be moved out with them”.
Clinton said she recognized the American electorate’s fury with establishment politics.
“Two out of three people didn’t vote for him”, David Caputo, president emeritus and professor of political science at Pace University in NY, told the Daily News. “But they are also hungry”.
Sanders has signaled he is in the race to win and expects the coming weeks to be even more closely fought.
Sanders, a Vermont senator, routed former secretary of state Hillary Clinton by a 60-38 percent margin in neighboring New Hampshire. Even her husband, Bill Clinton, had ties to the state after earning the nickname “The Comeback Kid” when he finished in second in New Hampshire in 1992. Voters in Iowa will cast the first ballots of the 2016 presidential election in caucuses across the state Monday. And Democrats concerned about polls showing he might be their strongest general election rival might feel a bit better than after the Iowa voting.
But when votes were tallied in the Granite State late Tuesday, it was increasingly apparent that Christie lacked the numbers needed to support a prolonged campaign.
George W. Bush’s decision to go to war in Iraq in 2003 remains a topic of debate in the race to find a successor to President Barack Obama, with Trump noting that he had opposed the war.
The suspension of the campaign comes a day after Christie’s sixth-place finish in the New Hampshire primary.
Rubio’s team has long expressed confidence about his chances in SC.
Speaking to reporters in Washington, Cruz eyed a potential boost from Christie and Fiorina backers.
Negron, too, said canvassing for Bush in New Hampshire was time well spent and made the campaign personal.
Keep in mind that BOTH of these men were considered jokes when they announced their respective runs for the White House.
“Our disappointment is not on you”.
“Christie didn’t really attack like he knows how to attack until last Saturday night, when he knocked out Rubio at the debate”, Katz wrote.
