Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP completes 1 year in Delhi: Hits & Misses
Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal ordered magisterial probe on Saturday evening into the ongoing row over Afzal Guru event at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU).
Kejriwal urged Delhi’s residents to again comply with the scheme set to run for two weeks in April, in an attempt to bring down pollution levels that sometimes reach more than 10 times the World Health Organization’s safe limits.
“If we implement the scheme on the almost 30 lakh two-wheelers, there will be chaos”.
An instaVaani poll has found that a majority of respondents approve of the performance of Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal and his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government, which will celebrate its first anniversary in office on Sunday.
“They are indulging in petty politics and the people of Delhi would not forgive them”.
Kejriwal said his government was working towards making piped water available to nearly all the households in the city.
Expressing their dissent over the continued row on the JNU, earlier immediately, a delegation of Left events met Home Minister Rajnath Singh and requested him to launch Kanhaiya Kumar, the college’s students’ union president. He indicated he was not ready for this.
On being asked why the delegation called on Kejriwal after meeting Singh, Yechury said given the incident occured in the territory of Delhi, the AAP leader, being Chief Minister, has all the rights to conduct a probe and establish the authenticity of the evidence.
Kejriwal further said that two-wheelers will continued to be exempted from the road rationing as Delhi’s public transport is not yet capable of tackling the situation by itself. Out of a total 276 mohalla sabhas held, just one in Vishwas Nagar said it was not in favour of odd-even. “Those who did it must be identified and punished”, the AAP supremo said.
