President Obama bound for LA for fundraisers, ‘Ellen’

– President Obama is back in the Bay Area Wednesday night, where he’s set to attend two fundraisers for the Democratic Party Thursday.

Obama was raising money for his fellow Democrats at four California fundraisers on Thursday, including a private event benefiting the campaign arm for Democratic Senate candidates. “So then surprisingly we just stopped fighting after that”.

The president will spend the weekend in the Palm Springs area before hosting a summit with leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations in Rancho Mirage on Monday and Tuesday.

“Somebody call the Situation Room because things are about to get hot”, said Obama as he stood in front of a red curtain and amid bouquets of red roses and white lilies as Barry White-style music played in the background.

“I don’t think anybody has been more influential than you on that”, Obama said.

Each guest will shell out a $250 admission fee, but anyone who wants a photograph with Obama will have to pay $10,000.

She then deadpanned, “I’m not really gay”.

Later, the president addressed the impending departure of the couple’s older daughter, Malia, a high-school senior who leaves for college in the fall. She is one of my best friends. It’s going to be hard for me not to have her around all the time. Hillary Clinton said she sometimes went for walks around the National Mall as first lady wearing dark sunglasses and a cap pulled down low.

Obama recalled laws were changed and “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” was repealed under his administration, but said he mentioned to his staff on the way to the interview DeGeneres was responsible for “changing hearts and minds”. “She’s ready to make her own way”.

Obama commented two days after billionaire businessman Donald Trump rode that wave of voter anger at traditional politicians to a commanding win in New Hampshire’s Republican presidential primary.
