‘Sanam Re’ makes 5.04 crores on Day One

While the former is based on Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations starring Katrina Kaif, Aditya Roy Kapur and Tabu in lead roles, the latter is a sweet love story with Pulkit Samrat and Yami Gautam.

In Sanam Re, director Divya Khosla Kumar redefines the “art” of going around in circles and returning to the same point after every 15 minutes or thereabouts. The movie has some soulful music and Sameer Arya captures the handsome locales on his lens quite effectively. The film is a romantic drama, now, let us dig in deep into the film to get the crux of the same.

Aakash(Pulkit Samrat)has his hometown in Tanakpur, a small town that has seen many of it’s youngsters relocating to busier, bustling cities. Rishi Kapoor who plays the role of an adorable grandpa, makes a cute entry.

Where this khichdi of hopeful writing heads may not pick your curiosity much but how it wraps up is a surprise, given the series of cliches running through the film. She made her directorial debut with 2014’s sleeper hit Yaariyanwhich some of you who have not seen may still recognise from its signature song by Yo Yo Honey Singh with the truly cerebral lyrics, “Aaj blue hai paani / Paani paani paani paani paani / Aur din bhi sunny / Sunny sunny sunny sunny sunny”. You find many incredible things happening, which showcases how amateurishly the script is written. If you are an ardent fan of ice, then “Sanam Re” is for you!

Your off-screen chemistry has been talked more than your onscreen one. Talking about Pulkit, he seemed very much average in the film, however, he alone can not be blamed for the same as the very culprit is the script. Yami is again not that impressive, however, if she really wants to stay ahead in the race, she has to work hard and stop giving weaker performances.

On whether she now has anyone she is willing to sacrifice anything for, the 21-year old stated she was still looking for her “Prince Charming”. Music of this film has added big support for this film. And then she has a heart disease and won’t live and I don’t know what happens in the end.

Sanam Re is riding high on its musical score and brilliant cinematography.
