PSG ban Aurier for insulting Blanc, misses Chelsea match
PSG take on Chelsea in a Champions League last 16 first leg at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday.
The Stamford Bridge outfit are set to play PSG in a Champions League Round of 16 tie in the coming weeks.
Paris Saint-Germain have suspended defender Serge Aurier after he insulted coach Laurent Blanc and many of his team-mates in a live video he and a friend recorded with the online app Periscope on Saturday night.
“The club have opened disciplinary proceedings against the player, accompanied by a provisional suspension”.
Aurier, who has been a key player for Blanc this season, apologized on Sunday for his comments and thanked Blanc “for all he did for me since my arrival here in Paris”.
Canal+ columnist Pierre Menes says he had been in contact with Aurier, tweeting that he is “going to deny the claims and take legal action concerning the falsification of a video”.
“I am very proud and I especially want to express how important it is to have him at our club. Paris Saint-Germain is a very strong institution nobody can touch”, PSG quoted club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi as saying in a statement yesterday.
“For the moment, I’m not really thinking about (a move)”, added Hazard.
The 35-year-old went off with a hamstring injury towards the end of the first half of Saturday’s 5-1 Premier League win over Newcastle.
“I have made a big mistake”.
In an interview posted on PSG’s official website, Aurier apologized for his actions, while admitting he had done something “unforgivable”.
“If he’s got a problem with me, I won’t use you journalists to handle the problem”. I love the city of Paris and I love Paris Saint-Germain.
“All the energy of the club, the players, the head coach and his staff are now focused on this crucial date which is a priority for us and for our fans”.
In March 2015 Aurier found himself banned for three European matches after labelling referee Bjorn Kuipers a “dirty son of a b****” after he had sent off Ibrahimovic in last season’s meeting between PSG and Chelsea.
