The best of Pebble Beach

He just might be right, at least in the post-Crosby era.

Defending champion Snedeker is bidding to win his third Pebble Beach crown in four years when the tournament gets underway on Thursday.

The Tour takes a break from its Eastward, Ho! journey, and turns back west for a week to Carmel Bay, California and the surrounding collection of exclusive and expensive golf real estate. They’ve come up with a Spieth bobblehead, and plan to give away 8,000 of them to fans who attend Saturday’s action at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am out on the Monterey Penisula. The tour is off the next four weeks.

Spieth played last month in both Abu Dhabi and Singapore, tournaments for which he received hefty appearance fees.

He said his positive experiences at the event will help him through the first three days, when all three course are in use. But when the wind blows, that distinction goes to Pebble Beach. “I feel good physically and I feel good mentally”.

“This week, I mean, it really is, it’s so unique and it’s so much fun”, Spieth said.

“Jake will tell you, he’s seen me at the happiest”. There are many others in the area, and the best of all, Cypress Point, is too fancy and exclusive that they not dare open their grounds to the unwashed public and intruding TV cameras.

He is paired with an amateur named “Light”. In an interesting match of amateurs, quarterback Aaron Rodgers and wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald will be playing in the same group with their pro partners, Jerry Kelly and Kevin Streelman, respectively.

“And this year I was able to go back, pick out where it was where my name was on the runner-up, and then look one spot down and diagonal and there’s your name for winning it with the score”. In my mind, I am not wrong.

“And then trying to get up and play after the preparation was pretty short”. He tied for 11th last week in Scottsdale….

This is not the first CBS tournament of the year but it is their first with Jim Nantz.
