Google Now receives WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, Telegram and NextPlus support
If you already use “Ok Google” and your voice to send emails, Hangouts, or text messages, this should be a natural progression.
To kick things off, Google is including support for WhatsApp, Viber, WeChat, Telegram, and NextPlus. You can request your Android device to send a message starting with the following command: “Ok Google, send an X message to Y: here’s where the message goes”.
The update will allow you to dictate and send messages through a whole bunch of third party messaging apps that include Whatsapp along with others like WeChat, Viber, Telegram, and NextPlus.
In order to get this going, you will need updated apps from Google Play, but once you have them, it should all work seamlessly with zero issues. More languages will be coming soon.
Now you’re able to use third-party messengers as well.
Today’s integration is thus part of a broader push from Google on mobile that isn’t limited to just voice commands.
