Hillary Clinton holds strong lead in SC primary
Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton spoke at the same African American baptist church in Las Vegas on Sunday as they compete for support.
The focus on inequality in the justice system and on conditions faced by hard-working immigrant families was unambiguous as the candidates turn to contests in Nevada and SC, where the next phase of their head-to-head will play out.
“I know you’re scared to say black, I know you’re scared to say reparation”, said panelist Felicia Perry. And who wants to do better?
Clinton also met with with workers and tourists in a cafe downstairs off the main casino floor at Harrah’s.
During their speeches to party donors, KUSA News 9 reported, both candidates said President Obama should name the successor to U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who died Saturday. Then Saturday in Denver, Sanders, Clinton and former Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley all attended the Colorado Democrats Dinner. Bernie Sanders, especially young people, to think about how they expect him to do what he’s saying.
Clinton concluded by using a similar argument her campaign has made this week: She is the most comprehensive candidate in the race. When asked about women by the two female debate moderators, PBS co-anchors Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff, Clinton said that she has “spent my entire adult life working toward making sure that women are empowered to make their own choices, even if that choice is not to vote for me”.
She has the backing of establishment Democrats. “No matter how good your eyesight is – if you are standing in Alabama, you can’t see people in Chicago”, Ellison told CNN.
“This state was decimated”, Sanders told the congregation.
Long viewed as the overwhelming front-runner in the Democratic race, Clinton has been caught off guard by Sanders’ strength, particularly his visceral connection with Americans frustrated by the current political and economic systems. Would that make it automatically going to happen that people would be able to get the jobs they deserve, the housing they need, the education their children need to have?
“The idea that the Republicans want to deny the president of the United States his basic constitutional right is beyond my comprehension”, he added, pledging to “do everything I can” to try to get the Senate to consider and approve the nominee the president has pledged to put forward.
The regression of my identity to just a female wife-to-be is completely against what I believe feminism represents.
Both Clinton and Sanders also disagreed with raids authorized by Obama to arrest and deport some people from Central America who recently came to the country illegally. It allows Wall Street and billionaires to pour huge sums of money into the political process to elect the candidates of their choice. They are anxious to death about the future of their kids. “Americans haven’t had a raise in 15 years”. She watched him speak from a large screen above and did not look at him directly.
At a later rally in Las Vegas, Sanders’ call for a new approach to the nation’s economy resonated with Nicole Reihl-Molloy, 37, of Las Vegas, who said that she and her husband struggled after the recession.
