Duke basketball will return to Carrier Dome to face Syracuse next season
Duke’s Grayson Allen, center, is congratulated by Marshall Plumlee (40), Brandon Ingram, Matt Jones, second from right, and Derryck Thornton (12) following Allen’s game winning shot against Virginia as time expires in the second half of an NCAA college basketball game in Durham, N.C., Saturday, Feb. 13, 2016.
Anthony Gill had 12 points for the Cavaliers, whose seven-game winning streak was snapped.
Brogdon had 18 points for Virginia (20-5, 9-4 Atlantic Coast Conference), and his reverse flip layup with 9.9 seconds left put the Cavaliers up 62-61.
Duke (19-6, 8-4 in ACC) hasn’t looked like a championship team this season as it played Saturday as an unranked team. Virginia squares off in the early Big Monday tilt against the North Carolina State Wolfpack tonight at 7 PM EST and close their ACC regular season slate with road games versus Miami-Florida and Clemson with home tests against North Carolina and Louisville.
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Forward Vitto Brown had 21 points and guard Bronson Koenig added 16 points and five assists as the Badgers built a 16-point, first-half lead and held on to upset the Terrapins in Big Ten play.
It was certainly the biggest play of the year.
After Allen hit two free throws for Duke, Virginia scored the next four points on driving bank shots.
The Cavaliers entered the game without a win at Cameron Indoor Stadium since 1995, and walked away heart-broken once again.
Allen finished with 15 points, but none with more impact than the final two for the sophomore.

“For about six minutes they dominated the game”, Krzyzewski said.
Have the Blue Devils solved their issues defensively?
Virginia led 34-31 at halftime after Duke surged with two 3-pointers by Ingram and a dunk during the last 2½ minutes of the first half.
Having Jefferson back will help fix those depth issues while providing Duke with a legitimate scoring option on the post, yet it’s his leadership that will be the most important come tournament time.
“I think Brogdon’s as good a player as we have in the league”, Krzyzewski said. I believe Carolina will lead by 4-8 points nearly the entire game and make a small run at the end to win by 11, 82-71.
It also meant that Brogdon wasn’t guarding Allen, who started getting to the rim around the time guys not named Brogdon started guarding him.
“They used all six of those to squeeze that one out”, Bennett said. While his overall scoring has diminished, his three point output has increased and he’s made at least three long range shots in five of those same nine games, including the last three. “Anytime you get outrebounded by 15 and you are 9-for-23 from the free-throw line you have no chance”.
