Messi’s penalty pass was for me: Neymar
The reigning league champions were already sitting comfortably in the match at 3-1 and moments before Messi was fouled Brazilian Neymar flicked the ball over Josep Sene’s head in a breathtaking piece of trickery.
Messi poked the ball forward by a couple yards to his right and Suarez, running at full pelt, beat the Celta Vigo’s defense and Neymar, to side foot the ball passed the flagging Sergio Valdes into the goal. Here is how it’s taken: The person taking the penalty takes his run up and lays down a pass to a supporting runner, who is the brains behind the whole operation.
The rout began with a Leo Messi goal 28 minutes in from a free kick.
Messi opened the scoring with a sublime free-kick before Celta striker John Guidetti drilled in a penalty to level.
Barcelona found themselves back in the lead 15 minutes after the restart, though, with Messi scooping the ball nto Luis Suarez’s path with wonderful precision, allowing the Uruguay attacker to tuck home to make it 2-1.
“Luis Suarez had a hand in five of Barcelona‘s six goals last Sunday, scoring three himself and providing two assists as Celta Vigo were thrashed”, Jonathan Johnson of beIN Sports USA, in France, said.
It has been claimed that it was disrespectful for Barcelona to score in that way, but Berizzo has claimed that he did not have a problem with what occurred. “I’m used to seeing these players, when they train, they are even better”.
The penalty evoked memories of when Barca legend Johan Cruyff played a one-two with Ajax team-mate Jesper Olsen to score from the spot in 1982, plus a less successful attempt by Arsenal pair Robert Pires and Thierry Henry in 2005.
“The penalty was dispatched in a different way, nothing else”, the Celta coach said.
“Our friendship is the most important thing. They’re hungry for goals, they can score however they want”, he said.
Not everyone agrees. “It is not the first time Barca have been accused of arrogance and the penalty can be framed as part of a wider discussion over whether the Catalan giants take things too far in their desire to win in style”, says the BBC.
It is being hailed as one of the most ridiculous goals ever scored.
“You can take them like that too”. “Some will like it and others won’t, but those of us who are at this club try to win titles, to have a good time and to provide enjoyment for our fans in a spectacular fashion”.
