Woman accuses Eliot Spitzer of assault
In 2008, Spitzer resigned as governor after a federal investigation revealed he had hired prostitutes. Sources say the incident was not sexual in nature and that Spitzer and the woman have known each other for the past two years.
Eliot Spitzer is reportedly under police investigation for allegedly choking a woman at a $1,000=a-night room at a posh Manhattan hotel. Sources tell the tabloid that she refused to cooperate in the investigation after giving her initial statement and may already have left the U.S. for Russian Federation. They said there may be video of Spitzer going up to the hotel with the woman. The New York Post provided a blow-by-blow account of the alleged incident as provided by anonymous sources.
“There is no truth to the allegation“, Linden said.
According to these sources, Travis called police on her cell phone at about 8 p.m.to report a breakdown and that she had cut her wrist.
“The victim has indicated that the subject is Eliot Spitzer”, an NYPD spokesperson told the Guardian.
The woman sustained no injuries of substance but was hospitalized to be treated for a non-serious cut on her arm and later released, the official said.
Spitzer’s lawyer says the woman at first said there was an assault and then he says she later recanted.
At one point, he put his hands on or near the woman’s neck to restrain her, she told investigators, according to sources.
