Girl Scout Cookies Go On Sale Next Week In Metro Detroit
The first Girl Scout cookie was sold in 1917, when the Mistletoe Troop in Muskogee, Okla., baked cookies and sold them in its high school cafeteria as a service project.
Volunteers helped out the group at Berger Allied Warehouse Sunday to help distribute the cookies. Be sure to stop out at Fareway and get your Girl Scout cookies!
Along with traditional door-to-door sales and cookie booth sales, Girl Scouts use Digital Cookie sales, an additional learning component in the Girl Scout Cookie Program that teaches girls skills and 21st-century technology relevant in today’s world.
You’ll find seven cookie varieties, including Thin Mints, Samoas, Do-Si-Dos, Tagalongs, Trefoils, Savannah Smiles and Rah Rah Raisins.
Local troops started picking up the boxes of cookies over the weekend at a warehouse on Robards Lane.
The Thin Mints are separate from the girls’ individual and troop sales, so Anya and Eloise will still be out in the community selling their Girl Scout cookies to fund other adventures!
Each troop sets a sales goal as agreed upon by members. Go to kansasgirlscouts.org to learn more about Girl Scouting in Kansas.
The Kentuckiana council sold 1.7 million boxes.
