‘X-Force’ Movie Could be R-Rated Thanks to ‘Deadpool’ Success
So, after audiences fell in love with Deadpool on Valentine’s Day weekend, the big wigs at 20th Century Fox deduced that their first R-rated standalone superhero film was so successful because… it was an R-rated superhero film! Now that it’s happened?
“Y’know, I didn’t”, replied a straight-faced Jackman, “but I thought it’d be a great idea”.
I must say I wouldn’t mind seeing an R-rated Wolverine film. Maybe we can finally get the worthy Deadpool x Wolverine reunion we all deserve. Even if you aren’t a fan of the comics, you will have likely noticed this fourth-wall breaking adventure making references to a number of movies, comic books and other pop culture happenings. And because the chatty, sweary mercenary is a part of X-Force, appearing alongside the likes of Colossus, Psylocke, Cyclops, Archangel, Cable and Wolverine. Taron Egerton, who made his feature film starring debut in Kingsman: The Secret Service, portrays Eddie the Eagle, and Hugh Jackman plays a ski jumping expert from Lake Placid who helps Eddie train for the Calgary Olympics. Then again, we could’ve said the same for their screen-time together in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but this interview gives them both a little more to do.
And while Reynolds’ character, Wade Wilson, takes a few digs at Wolverine in the film Deadpool, there’s nothing but mutual fondness when it comes to these two in real life – and their chemistry is absolutely hilarious.
“Wolverine 3” is set to open March 3, 2017.
