NFL Commissioner Goodell earned $34 million in 2014
Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers took home $38.3 million that season, thanks to a huge signing bonus, making him the only player who made more than Goodell, according to salary tracker Spotrac.
May 2015: On the morning of the National Football League owners meetings, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Kraft and Goodell “already have met, spoke and even hugged”, later saying that this could “help cool tensions between the two sides and help lead to truce on Deflategate”.
That’s a slight drop from 2013, when he was paid $35 million and a steeper drop from 2012, when Goodell was paid $44 million for his work in a year in which the owners locked out players. “But I can not believe that the commissioner of football gets paid $44 million a year”.
August 2006: Kraft strongly supports decision for Roger Goodell to replace Paul Tagliabue as commissioner of the National Football League, tells USA Today that “he is ready for this job…Roger becoming commissioner is pretty special”. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman’s most recent public earnings were $9.6 million. Pash made $7.51 million, according to Rovell.
National Football League revenues increased by about $1 billion in 2014 with the beginning of the Thursday night package on CBS, a new deal with DirecTV, and reworking of some sponsorship deals. That means he’s likely over the $200M mark when taking 2015 into account, as he likely made at least that much-if not more-last year.
The league office is no longer classified as a tax-exempt organization.
