The Hollywood Vampires Honor Lemmy With Fiery Tribute
Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl introduced the group to the stage with a brief tribute to the late Lemmy Kilmister of Motorhead.
Unfortunately, the Hollywood Vampires got raked over the coals on social media for its live TV debut, thanks to an indecipherable performance that included lots of fire, a riding crop and a blood-spattered shirt worn by Cooper. “It’s what I think rock & roll needs right now”.
Actor/musician Johnny Depp (L) and musician Joe Perry of Hollywood Vampires perform onstage during The 58th GRAMMY Awards at Staples Center on February 15, 2016 in Los Angeles, California. “We started this band as a means to toast our “dead drunk friends” at the Rainbow [on Sunset], all the ghosts in the bar”, Cooper said.
Lady Gaga took to the stage and gave an epic performance to a selection of the former’s biggest hits. He was this really cool guy. He spent about half his life in prison, in Statesville, Illinois.
Depp, before launching into his solo, channeled Sparrow with a deliriously nonsensical spoken passage: “Good morning my darling, how I thirst for you in my sleep, we pop you open and wet our proverbial whistle”. In the meantime, their track “As Bad As I Am” that was performed at the Grammys is available for streaming on iTunes and Amazon.
Depp has vowed to make heads explode playing the song at the Grammys.
Swift took the stage to deliver a message that some interpreted as a swipe at rapper Kanye West, whose new song has him claiming to have made her famous.
Depp was content to play rhythm guitar throughout, leaving Perry to play a couple more string-bending leads before the tumbling finale.
He is even filming the always-odd Captain Jack again in the new “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie.
