WWE Fastlane 2016: Dean Ambrose Deserves to Become the No. 1 Contender
After Dean Ambrose comes out to help Reigns fight them off, he teases Dirty Deeds on Reigns, which we might see this Sunday at Fastlane. Kevin Owens, Dolph Ziggler, Tyler Breeze, and Stardust joined Ambrose in the ring and the match was on.
Brock Lesnar will also be on ESPNews’ SportsCenter Tuesday night at 9 p.m. with Jonathan Coachman.
Something else here as Ambrose has been given much more time on “Raw” over the past few weeks. If the WWE is hoping to put some intrigue into the triple threat match they have done it, it’s just a shame that they’ll probably still give the win to Reigns and go down the path that they have had planned for a while.
Paul Heyman was in the ring beckoned Roman Reigns for a face-off & attempted to worm his way into the former WWE World Heavyweight Champion’s head by predicting either the end of his dream or his friendship with Dean Ambrose at FastLane.
Verdict: A segment that involves some heavy hitting is always nice to see now and then and it was nice to see Kane make a return to save Big Show and Ryback. It’s clearly a one-month feud with little lasting ramifications beyond setting up bigger stakes between Banks and Lynch, but all four women have carried the load to make it compelling.
Charlotte and Brie Bella: Charlotte essentially played the same role that Paige played when she was scripted to use Reid Flair’s death in an angle. Two weeks ago on Raw, AJ won the first match on Raw whereas Jericho won the second encounter this past Thursday on Smackdown. A shocked Reigns took it in stride, but there’s no denying that Heyman may have had a point. This foursome will have a tag match at Fastlane. Lesnar hit Ambrose and Reigns with German suplexes. Who will be part of the main event at Wrestlemania?
Since Brie Bella’s husband, Daniel Bryan, retired last week, Brie has gotten a push of some sort.
WWE Divas Champion Charlotte defeated Natalya with the Figure Eight in a non-title match. Kalisto Vs. Alberto Del Rio has been a great rivalry since the start and this match is hard to predict as the two have won numerous times.
A theme of the night is “slightly unexpected things are happening”, and I want to emphasize how much I enjoyed it. Nothing really spectacular happens, but instead of trotting out the exact same material they trotted out last week, they take some of the same ideas – Ziggler vs. Owens, for example – and … what’s the word? Mark Henry by pinfall after Henry escaped a Big Ending attempt, but fell victim to a pin anyway. I supposed we’ll get a six-man tag at Fastlane. Neville and the Lucha Dragons by pinfall after Del Rio hit Sin Cara with the Double Stomp halfway across the ring.
There was a pre-match clip that showed Tamina superkicking Becky Lynch in the parking lot before the show, then Becky took on Naomi in a match that lasted maybe two minutes. Braun Strowman by disqualification after the Wyatt Family attacked Show.
