$1 million Pennsylvania Lottery jackpot won in Westmoreland County
The Florida winners have now come forward five weeks after the winning tickets were drawn.
The US Powerball lottery jackpot is often one of the largest in the world, and this week is no exception, with a current estimated prize of $189 million up for grabs.
Out of three winning tickets, one was purchased from a Publix supermarket in Melbourne, Florida. The as-yet unidentified person learned of his or her prize during the Powerball drawing on January 13.
They will be presented with their prize at the Florida Lottery’s headquarters in Tallahassee on Wednesday.
Iowa Lottery’s total January sales was $54.1 million, topping the previous monthly sales record of $42.2 million set in February 2006, according to the news release.
And on Wednesday, the owners of the winning ticket sold in Melbourne Beach, Florida, are making their public debut, state lottery officials said.
The victors from Tennessee, John and Lisa Robinson, opted to take a lump sum payout of their share of the jackpot. In addition to the Florida winning ticket, the other winning tickets were sold in Chino Hills, California and Munford, Tennessee. After taxes, they’ll receive $187.2 million. If there is no jackpot victor, the money in the jackpot pool rolls over to the next POWERBALL drawing.
