Twitter Mercilessly Mocks Jeb’s Gun Tweet
The former Florida governor on Tuesday tweeted a photo of a firearm emblazoned with a personalized insignia on top of the gun that read, “Gov. Jeb”.
He tweeted a photograph of the gun at about 1:30 p.m., quickly drawing a steady stream of mockery across the Twitterverse.
The picture of a personally engraved firearm that presidential hopeful Jeb Bush apparently meant to woo South Carolinian voters backfired on Tuesday.
When asked about the gun tweet, however, Bush said he no knowledge of it. He then said that it was a tribute to his appearance at the gun company.
NSA whistle-blower Edward Snowden tweeted, “Delete your account”.
“Prior to that, Bush was not a gun owner”, Mashable said.
The former Florida governor – who didn’t immediately explain the photo of the pistol inscribed with his name – posted it after visiting the weapons maker FN Manufacturing in Columbia, South Carolina.
Mr Bush has made defending the Second Amendment – the right to bear arms – a focal point of his campaign. Republican candidates often tout glimpses of machismo and national security toughness when addressing the SC political crowd in general. It also proved a handy vehicle for drawing attention to the country’s serious problem with gun violence. Jeb’s gun tweet comes at a time where gun control resistance is at an all time high.
Bush is polling fourth with around 10 percent of the vote.
