(AP) – Now appointed America’s top dog – CJ, the German shorthaired pointer. At home, he hangs out with his best friend, a whippet, she said: “They rip around the property”.
One of more than two dozen Long Island dogs registered for the confirmation judging, Max also was among the 3,000 or so canines taking part in dog show events.
“It’s very frustrating, because they’re worthy of it. There’s attractive dogs”, longtime golden retriever breeder Michael Pickard said with a sigh before Tuesday’s final rounds.
Kent Boyles, the handler of the favored German shepherd Rumor who competed in 176 shows in 2015, said this was Rumor’s last show. The Westminster Dog Show, which was traditionally called Westminster Week, took its name from a New York City hotel, according to the show’s organizers, International Business Times previously reported.
Though not to be one of the best-in-show contenders, Max is not hurting for love, Schuster said.

Then the moment the Baez family had been waiting for finally came: The judge pointed directly at Humphrey, then Scarlett – sealing a one-two finish for their breed and catapulting Humphrey into a higher level of competition on the dog show world’s biggest stage later that evening. But she sees value simply in showing the big-eyed, gutsy small dogs.
