Double homicide found inside Indy hotel room dead from self-inflicted gunshot wound
Zionsville murder suspect Lucius Hamilton III took his own life after barricading himself inside a hotel room in downtown Indianapolis.
A 31-year-old mother and her 4-year-old son were shot dead at their home in Zionsville, Indiana.
Hamilton is considered armed and risky. He’s the prime suspect in the shooting death of his 31-year-old niece and her 4-year-old son.
Police were looking for Katherine Giehll’s uncle, Lucius Oliver Hamilton III, 61, a Wabash College employee who was last seen driving a white 2013 Dodge full-size van with Wabash plate WA25.
Students and faculty at Wabash College were ordered to remain indoors and classes were canceled for the day as police searched for a suspect in a double murder.
Wabash College’s website lists him as “Senior Major Gifts Officer”.
Hamilton was last seen on campus this morning and is traveling in an unknown direction. Classes were also canceled. “And as we knocked on the door, shots were fired through the door at our officers”, said Sheriff Nielsen.
Police do not believe that he is in the area. We have reached out to the US Marshals Service, FBI and TSA who are assisting with this investigation. As you can understand, this is a serious matter, and we need to handle it perfectly.
A spokeswoman for the university said officials are directing further questions to the Boone County sheriff’s department. “We are utilizing multiple agencies to assist with solving this crime and we will exhaust every resource to help investigate this to the fullest”, said the sheriff.
