Ringing Bells recently launched one of India’s cheapest 4G smartphone at Rs.2,999. Ringing Bells has declared that the Freedom 251 smartphone is a result and huge endeavor from government and is publicizing it as an achievement anecdote of Modi’s flagship “Make in India” scheme.
A women’s safety app is pre-loaded, while other apps are aimed at farmers, fishermen, and provide medical assistance to the elderly.
“It runs on Android, has a 4” display and comes equipped with a 3.2MP rear camera and a 0.3MP front snapper for clicking selfies. Under the hood, a quad-core processor can be found clocked at 1.3GHz with 1.5GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded thanks to a built-in microSD card slot.
The company says the phone was developed with the support of the Indian governments ‘Make in India’ campaign that is aimed at encouraging local manufacturing. It is an ultra-affordable 3G smartphone and has been made in line with the Make In India, Digital India and Skill India programmes.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikkar will introduce the smartphone Freedom 251 in the market.
An Indian handset maker will tomorrow launch the country’s cheapest smartphone, in a move that’s likely to disrupt its booming mobile market of over 200 million users.
Ahead of its official launch in New Delhi, the phone captivated social media on Tuesday. An unknown Indian company by the name Ringing Bells has introduced what’s probably the cheapest Android smartphone for just Rs 251 which is less than United States dollars 4 (actually $3.65 at present rates).
According to International Data Corporation’s (IDC) “Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker”, 25.6 million smartphones were shipped in India in the fourth quarter of 2015 – up 15.4 percent from 22.2 million units for the same period past year.
