A delegation of women journalists today urged Home Minister Rajnath Singh to take strong action against those who thrashed members of their fraternity in a court here yesterday. It is alleged that during the aforesaid proceedings, the petitioner and other students and professors of JNU were physically assaulted by a group of lawyers.
However, there was no dearth of people who took to social media expressing anguish at the JNU fraternity over the recent incidents.
Earlier, scuffles broke out as the protesting lawyers shouting “Bharat Mata ki Jai” ordered the JNU students and journalists out of the courtroom as well as the court premises. The media persons objected to their demand and refused to move out of the court room when they were attacked by the men, who accused the media persons of being JNU supporters and accused them of wrong reporting. He said mediapersons were roughed up and added that police will look into complaints relating to the incident and take action.
Singh lauded the swift recovery of Rs 22.5 crore that was looted by a cash van driver and said the force rightfully deserves a place in the Limca Book of Records.
