Elisabeth Moss Stars in New Drama QUEEN OF EARTH
Seeking peace and solitude, she heads to the secluded lakehouse of her best friend, Virginia (Inherent Vice’s Katherine Waterston).
As Catherine reaches out to Virginia with attempts at connection, Virginia begins spending increasing amounts of time with a local love interest, Rich (Patrick Fugit), and fissures in the relationship between the two women begin to appear, sending Catherine into a downward spiral of delusion and madness.
In her second collaboration with acclaimed director Alex Ross Perry (Listen Up Philip), she stars as Catherine, a woman careening towards emotional collapse after a one-two punch of heartbreaking events.
Well, Elisabeth Moss‘ new film Queen of Earth is kind of like that. “The film has been described as “[a] bracing, eerie look a the deep bonds of friendship and the horrific effects of being frayed” as well as “a thrilling examination of a deeply complex relationship between two miserable women”.
While Alex Ross Perry’s “Queen Of Earth” might, on the surface, seem like a straight-up, hair-raising nailbiter…well, it is that.
The trailer has a wonderfully throwback feel to it, with ornate film titles being layered over scenes and narration including lines like “Katherine Waterston in a role you’ll never forget, and Elizabeth Moss as you’ve never seen her before”.
The films hits theaters and iTunes on August 26.
