Aziz Ansari’s Netflix Sitcom Gets a Name and Air Date
Netflix, as part of its effort to keep the nation suspended in a constant state of binge-watching hypnosis, has announced a title and date for Aziz Ansari’s buzzed-about sitcom, as well as a new season of BoJack Horseman.
The animated animal comedy has been renewed for a third season, and crime drama Longmire, which previously aired for three seasons before A&E canceled it, will debut its highly anticipated fourth season on Thursday, September 10, Netflix announced at the Television Critics Association fall previews on Tuesday.
Master of None, which Netflix picked up in April, is executive produced by Ansari with Parks and Recreation’s Mike Schur and Alan Yang, Louie’s Dave Becky, and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s David Miner.
Meanwhile, the streaming service also set premiere dates for Longmire and Aziz Ansari’s new series Master of None.
Robert Taylor returns as Walt Longmire, along with series regulars Katee Sackhoff, Lou Diamond Phillips, Cassidy Freeman, Bailey Chase, and Adam Bartley. On it, Ansari performs 30-year-old Dev, a New York actor who struggles with discovering a path for his life. “Ambitious, funny, cinematic, and both sweeping in scope and intensely personal,
Dev’s story takes him through subjects as diverse as the plight of the elderly, the immigrant experience and how to find the most delicious pasta for dinner.”
Netflix also has a variety of projects coming later this year, including the four-episode sketch comedy series With Bob and David, which stars Bob Odenkirk and David Cross, Marvel’s Jessica Jones, the final season of Hemlock Grove, and Sofia Coppola’s A Very Murray Christmas, which stars Bill Murray, George Clooney, Paul Shaffer, Amy Poehler, Julie White, Dimitri Dimitrov, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, David Johansen, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, Phoenix, Frederic Moulin, Rashida Jones, Miley Cyrus, and others. Jon Benjamin, Eric Wareheim, Lena Waithe, Noel Wells and Kelvin Yu.
