Packers unveil throwback jersey for 2015
On Tuesday, the Green Bay Packers unveiled the alternate jersey that the team will wear for its October 18th game against the San Diego Chargers.
Completing the historic ensemble will be faded gold trousers and high navy socks.
Images of the uniforms leaked on Monday night when Nike put several jerseys on their website.
Longtime Packers fans might remember the uniforms as those of the Don Hutson era.
The uniform is based off of the uniform that the team wore from 1937-49.
The third jerseys can be worn up to three times per season over a five-year period. Perhaps the most famous example is the USC-UCLA rivalry, in which both teams have worn their home uniforms when playing each other since 2008. But the Thanksgiving game is on NBC, so it is not subject to the new concept, which is reserved for NFL Network/CBS games.
“Our organization has a unique and rich history”, said Packers President/CEO Mark Murphy.
The Packers travel to play the Detroit Lions in Week 13 as part of the Thursday Night Football package.
At the shareholder’s meeting recently, the team revealed these pretty sweet throwback uniforms to the fans, giving them a glimpse of what they’ll be seeing this upcoming season.
