Paul Parker believes Tim Sherwood could be Man United’s ideal caretaker
It has been widely suggested that Louis van Gaal will not be in charge of the Red Devils next season due to a string of disappointing results and performances.
“From the people I know who are in the know, Jose Mourinho to United is a done deal”.
He has since returned to the Premier League, but following his second sacking at Chelsea late a year ago he has been heavily linked with taking over from Louis van Gaal at Old Trafford. He looks set to be shown the door if United don’t finish the season in the top four of the Premier League, and Mourinho is his likely successor, per Neil Custis of the Sun.
In his column for Eurosport, Parker wrote: “Bringing in Jose Mourinho?”.
So to suggest that he could walk in to a crisis situation at United and turn it around is absurd.
Sadly, as we’ve seen with Tim, those sorts of managers don’t work long term.
“Our policy is that we do not have a big squad because if you have a big squad you can not try out youngsters, and it is our policy to give young players a chance”, Van Gaal said.
The Portuguese is not heading to Italy to watch a game of mere football of course, and Corriere Dello Sport understands that Mourinho wants Inter’s captain Mauro Icardi to be his first major signing at Old Trafford.
“There are plenty of guys out there who do – Diego Simeone, say, or Mauricio Pochettino – but none of them are going to leave at this stage of the season”.
Will the comments stir the German World Cup victor into action or is this just yet more evidence of tension in the United dressing room?
