Sacramento Kings aggressively pursuing Pau Gasol
If Jackson makes a play for Gasol to be the ideal mentor to Porzingis, he always could attempt to trade Lopez, who has been effective since late December but also will make more than $13 million next season.
The 7-foot, 250-pound Gasol was disappointed when he was narrowly voted out of this years All-Star Game, which was highlighted by the last appearance of his former teammate, Los Angeles Lakers great Kobe Bryant, who will retire at the end of this season.
Mid-season trades are rare for the Bulls.
At this point in Gasol’s career, he doesn’t have much interest in playing hallow minutes for a franchise that has no idea what it’s doing. However, if the Thunder do want to make a trade, they should look into these five potential options. While Koufos and McLemore are not considered an instant boost to Chicago’s campaign, the Bulls could be banking on using them as pieces to rebuild around their rising star Jimmy Butler. With the way this season has been going, they prefer getting something out of his expiring deal then letting it ride out, maybe miss the playoffs and then see him walk away for nothing while they don’t agree on a new contract. So sometimes decisions are made, whether they’re right or wrong, it happens. The Kings and Sixers should reach an agreement first before Sacramento can include that pick in the deal with Chicago. With backup point guard Dennis Schroder showing promise, moving Teague could bring some defensive help in the frontcourt after the Hawks lost big man Tiago Splitter for the season to a hip injury. “It tells you a lot about the character of a team and the people you are around with”.
Is Gasol a soon to be KIng?
In other words, this could be a potentially devastating deal for Sacramento which fits right in line with many of their previous moves. The biggest names involved in speculation leading up to Thursday’s 3 p.m. ET trade deadline are forwards Pau Gasol and Taj Gibson. “Come back, got 30 games left and we got to decide whether we want to play or not”. Ken Berger of CBS Sports reported earlier Wednesday that there was no imminent deal for Gasol.
Amidst a rash of injuries, heavy trade speculation, and a massive plummet down the Eastern Conference standings, the limping Chicago Bulls (27-25) hoped to avoid a fifth-straight loss as they take on the first-place Cleveland Cavaliers (38-14) on Thursday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
