Kejriwal blames Modi government for court violence
Addressing a rally of e-rickshaw drivers at Chhatrasal Stadium where he announced a subsidy of Rs 30,000 on registration of the vehicles, Kejriwal charged that the Narendra Modi government with working for the rich.
Kejriwal yesterday alleged Delhi Police is “openly flouting” Supreme Court orders and wondered what instructions Commissioner BS Bassi has from his bosses after an attack on Kumar and mediapersons at Patiala Court premises.
“If anyone commits murder and police asks about the reason for it, the accused will say he was raising pro-Pakistan slogans and they will be let off by the police”.
The JNU is now facing protests and counter protests with the police cracking down on students over the anti-India slogans raised earlier to mark the death anniversary of Parliament Attack convict Afzal Guru on its campus in the national capital.
Kejriwal told the media after meeting President Pranab Mukherjee that Delhi Police would not have remained mute spectators during the violence in the court if they were not directed to do so.
On Monday, before he was to be produced at the Patiala House Court, some lawyers attacked journalists and JNU students in the complex.
“When the slogan is “Pakistan zindabad” then Mr. Rahul Gandhi should know that this slogan is not a slogan of Bharatiya Janata party but it is against the country. We will put forth our stand in the court tomorrow”, Bassi told reporters here.
“Across the country, whether in JNU, in Hyderabad University, in FTII and other places of learning, students are being bullied and threatened, simply for holding views contrary to the ruling establishment”, they added.
While urging people to opt for e-rickshaws as a mean of transport, Kejriwal said: “It is the best means of transport as it is eco-friendly and does not contribute to environmental pollution”.
Kejriwal also said that his cabinet colleague Kapil Mishra (Tourism Minister) was getting threatening calls from +301 numbers. We want to ask the centre to take stock of the situation.
He insisted that the courts be “shut down” if issues like what is anti-national were to be adjudged outside the judiciary.
