FacebookFacebook’s Messenger app. Get ready for ads in Messenger. TechCrunch writes that Facebook has distributed a document to businesses indicating they will be able to message customers directly beginning in the second quarter of the year. It does seem to sound as though it is rather intrusive in nature, but I guess as long as it does not spill over to conversations with friends, it should still be somewhat bearable. That being said, we’ll have to wait and see how the situation plays out, to see if Facebook will place ads within Messenger, and if so, how it will do it. Facebook hasn’t confirmed the arrival of Messenger ads but the leaked document is said to be genuine and this feature could start as soon as April 2016.
Facebook plans to introduce paid advertisements in Messenger within the next few months, according to a new report.
Whilst refusing to confirm or deny the reports Facebook went out of its way to reassure its 800m Messenger users that they will ‘not experience unwanted messages of any type, ‘ in an apparent effort to head off the obvious spam potential of such a system.
This leaked document has the company stating the businesses to urge people to start communicating with them and open a chat thread with them. Say, you wanted to buy a gizmo, found the shop on Facebook, and shot a question via Messenger on your phone. This adds some validity to the possibility of ads via Messengers to be on its way.
