See Doctor Who On The Big Screen Before The New Season Starts
Fathom Events has had a several-year partnership with BBC, beginning with a national broadcast of the 50th anniversary episode The Day of the Doctor, which the company described as bringing the “largest surges of traffic ever” to their website.
As we previously reported, Jenna Coleman, who play’s The Doctor’s companion, recently revealed there would be a lot of exciting and “dark” adventures in store for Clara and The Doctor.
Though his passion may not be as well known as Doctor Who superfan and Comic-Con host Chris Hardwicke, actor Wil Wheaton is a long-time fan of the show, who frequently mentions it on his Twitter account.
Premiering with two-part installment “The Magician’s Apprentice” and “The Witch’s Familiar”, Doctor Who Season 9 will feature among its guest stars Game of Thrones favorite Maisie Williams, Rufas Hound, Tom Stourton, Ariyon Bakare, Simon Lipkin, Ian Conningham, Murray McArthur, Barnaby Kay, John Voce, Struan Rodger, Jemma Redgrave, Kelly Hunter, Clare Higgins, Jaye Griffiths, Daniel Hoffmann-Gill, Jami Reid-Quarrell, Aaron Neil, India Ria Amarteifio, Joey Price, Dasharn Anderson, Harki Bhambra, Demi Papaminas, and a returning Michelle Gomez. The event grossed .8 million at the U.S. box office in its first night alone. BBC Worldwide North America and Fathom Events have announced a special screening of the Doctor Who Season 8 two-part finale Dark Water and Death in Heaven on September 15 and 16 at 7:30 p.m (local time). Fathom have presented a number of genre-friendly events, including an ongoing series of science fiction films “commented on” by MST3K alumni at RiffTrax, and an upcoming return to theaters of the animated classic The Iron Giant. “This time fans get the added excitement of seeing all the action in 3D with exclusive bonus content not available anywhere else.”
