President reconciles aggrieved APC Reps members: Dogara, Gbajabiamila

President Muhammadu Buhari is now in a closed door meeting with Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the House of Representatives.

But the meeting which had both factions of the house in attendance only lasted 20 minutes, with each camp holding its grounds on the choice of principal officers in the house.

The two factional groups refused to end the protracted power tussle.

Rep. Pally Iriase (Edo-APC) who announced this on Saturday in Abuja at a press briefing said majority of the equity team of the APC caucus in the House accepted the positions proposed by the Speaker at a meeting, which led to the final resolution of the disagreement.

He asked asked Speaker Yakubu Dogara and Femi Gbajabiamila to hold a meeting with the national chairman of the APC, John Odigie-Oyegun and find a solution to the problem within the next six hours. “It is not about magic, this is a family that has come together and we are here to resolve the problem and we shall move ahead to resolve the issue in this evening”.

“Section 14, ( 3) tells us how these bodies of government must be composed and in order to ensure inclusive, unity and fairness in the country”.

He dismissed the insinuation that the meeting with the President was coming too late, saying the party would come out with good news for the nation by Tuesday.

Speaker Dogara quipped: “I have always stood firmly by the party and like my Chairman has just explained, we will go to do consultations with the party and I am sure sooner than later, we will have good news for Nigerians”. Mr. Gbajabiamila lost his opportunity to be Speaker of the House during this power struggle.
