‘Mob Wives’ star Angela ‘Big Ang’ Raiola dies at 55

Ang died of cancer complications Thursday morning at 55 years old, leaving behind her two children, six grandchildren and large family.

“Mob Wives” star Angela “Big Ang” Raiola has died after her a courageous battle with throat, lung, and brain cancer. Angela “Big Ang” Raiola won the hearts of many during her short time in the spotlight.

While Angela was present for all of Season 6, which finished filming in January, and the show’s reunion special this month, TMZ reports production did not film her in her final days. “It has been my esteemed privilege and honor to represent her in the highest regard via social media”. Detore told RadarOnline.com that Big Ang spoke her last words on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, Big Ang’s good friend Vinnie Medungo took to her Twitter account (@bigangVH1) to share their grief with fans.

“I am saddened to say that at 3:01 a.m., Ang lost her battle with cancer”, Jennifer Graziano, creator and executive producer of “Mob Wives”, said. The show featured a group of women from Staten Island who are connected to men with alleged mob ties.

Big Ang, whose nickname stemmed from her larger-than-life personality (and her apparent fondness for augmentation by plastic surgery), was a niece of Salvatore Lombardi, known as Sally Dogs, of the Genovese crime family. Catfights, she said, were not her forte. The star has been very open about her health condition ever since doctors first found a massive tumor in her throat in March 2015.

Her sister and brother-in-law had been supporting her during her illness, Raiola said on the show, but she added that her husband, Neil Murphy, was no longer part of her life. She also documented a medical visit in which a doctor told her she had to have a biopsy on her lung.
