Brian Roberts to Trail Blazers
The Portland Trail Blazers were active at the National Basketball Association trade deadline Thursday, acquiring guard Brian Roberts and a future second-round pick from Miami, as well as a future first-round pick and forward Anderson Varejao in a deal with Cleveland.
The Heat will receive cash considerations in the trade, per Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.
The Roberts trade moves the Heat under the NBA’s luxury-tax threshold, saving them $6 million, reports Wojnarowski.
In 16 outings with the Heat D-League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, this season, Stokes posted 20.6 points and 10.2 rebounds per game, earning a spot in the the 2016 D-League All-Star Game.
Roberts was obtained in Monday’s three-team trade with the Charlotte Hornets and Grizzlies.
In four seasons with New Orleans and Charlotte, Roberts, 30, is averaging 7.4 points (41.2% FG, 35.2% 3-PT, 91.9% FT), 1.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists over 252 games (57 starts). Now in his fourth year in the league, he never suited up with the Heat.
