Police Unions Criticize Beyonce’s Video, Call for Boycott
In a statement, Ortiz wrote: “The fact that Beyonce used this year’s Super Bowl to divide Americans by promoting the Black Panthers and her anti-police message shows how she does not support law enforcement”. Do you agree that it was a slap in the face to law enforcement?’ “It’s pretty obvious there’s an anti-policing sentiment in her messages”, says Sgt. Danny Hale, president of the Nashville Fraternal Order of Police, the Andrew Jackson Lodge #5. “People can not allow the supporters of police terror and brutality to get away with attacking and trying to intimidate prominent people when they speak out against police brutality”.
The New York Police Department’s Sergeants Benevolent Association quickly announced it would back the boycott, and Bill Johnson, the executive director of the National Association of Police Organizations, said Friday that “We fully support individual officers’ and their unions’ call for the boycott. Why would anybody?” asked the group’s executive director, Bill Johnson.
Frederick Frazier, chairman of the Dallas Police Association’s Political Action Committee, said the association might join the boycott, according to CNN.
Well now, another police force is joining the anti-Bey crusade!

“It is not needed until she explains her video and whether there is an anti- police address/message she is trying to bring to the public”, Gamaldi said.
Ortiz ended his statement by condemning Beyonce’s Super Bowl 50 halftime performance that paid tribute to the controversial civil rights activist group the Black Panther Party, who Ortiz blames for the death of police officer Richard Rainey.
If enough Metro police officers don’t volunteer to work the special event, the department will need to fill the vacancies and mandate the remaining spots be filled.
A representative for Beyonce has yet to comment on the report.
Miami Police spokesman Lieutenant Freddie Cruz said the extra-duty shifts for the concert will be “open for officers to sign up”.
