Manning Accused of 1996 Sexual Assault
It argues that the athletics department has a history of such behavior dating back to the mid-1990s, which is when Manning enters the picture.
However, the two-time Super Bowl champion and Papa John’s wingman-Manning may not be the squeaky clean golden boy that he is perceived to be by the national media, as Shaun King of The New York Daily News posted an article on Saturday full of disturbing details from an incident which occurred when Manning attended the University of Tennessee in 1996. In that document Manning is accused of allegedly rubbed his rectum and scrotum on Naughright’s face during an examination, according to SB Nation. Although the document was obtained and reported on by USA Today in 2003, it has only recently resurfaced.
However, the complaint does detail Manning’s incident on February 29, 1996, when he would have been in the spring semester of his sophomore season.
No matter what you think happened in the training room that night in 1996, or whatever you think Peyton Manning did to Dr. Naughright in the following years, King’s offensive was not a fair look at the case. The case was settled in 1997 on the condition Naughright leave her position, the lawsuit said. A few days before Super Bowl 50 a more detailed and accurate story was revealed. “And all that was on my face when I pushed him up and off. And it was like this and as I pushed him up to get leverage. To get leverage, I took my head out to push him up and off”.
Naughright later left Tennessee as part of a financial settlement.
Problem was the teammate, Malcolm Saxon, denied Manning’s version.
ABC News has been efforting comment from Naughright.
“While it is outrageous that the University of Tennessee chose to turn a blind eye to sexual violence by student athletes like Manning, it would be flat out unacceptable for the National Football League and major companies like Nationwide Insurance and Papa John’s Pizza to continue to stand with Manning in light of emerging evidence”, Chaudhary said.
It’s important to note that although Manning claims he mooned Naughright, she says Manning went way further than that. That’s why this is really not a Peyton Manning story.
Two months before the book came out, an excerpt was sent to Naughright at Florida Southern. But the alleged incident at Tennessee was not going to go away.
Along with these recent accusations, Manning’s legacy has also been at question.
All of the information is there for the court of public of public opinion to believe that something is up with ESPN, the National Football League, and Peyton Manning. Peyton in his book claimed he was just “mooning” a track athlete, also there for physical therapy, and the trainer, whom he described as having “a vulgar mouth, ‘ took offense….” They filed as Jane Doe I-VI and point to twenty years of incidents involving athletes at the university.
“I did it thinking the trainer wasn’t there where she would see, even when she did, it seemed like something she would have laughed at”.
Athletes and former athletes swore in depositions that Naughright conducted herself professionally and, eventually, the lawsuit was settled for an undisclosed sum. Active NFL players are prohibited from pitching alcohol, so it was widely interpreted that Manning is planning to retire. The two sides reached an agreement in 2004. United States of America wrote about the same document back in 2003. The Daily News based the report on a court filing prepared by Naughright. The 74-page document is, necessarily, one-sided.
