Irate fans turn on Manchester United after Europa League shock
Van Gaal’s side went down 2-1 away to Danish outfit FC Midtjylland on Thursday night in the first leg of their Europa League round-of-32 tie.
Red Devils supporters at the MCH Arena in Herning made their feelings about the team’s performance known at the end, hurling expletive-laden abuse, and midfielder Carrick has apologised to the fans over the showing, for which he felt there could be “no excuses”.
“I don’t think Manchester United should become a sacking club”, Moyes told the BBC on Saturday.
“We know what Monday is going to be – it has been shown many times”.
“I think in these games when you play teams that are lesser than Manchester United, you need to win your tackles and second balls”.
There have been some suggestions Van Gaal may have just the three games ahead to save himself from the sack, while Mourinho has been quoted as saying he has no plans to return to managing Inter Milan next season, and adding: “I’m not looking for a club, but there are clubs that are looking for me”.
Do you think Mourinho would be a success at United?
Those sentiments are now being reflected in media with local newspaper the Manchester Evening News bearing the headline “LVG Must Go” above a strongly-worded comment piece on the back page of Friday’s edition.
“There was a lot of negativity, but I don’t know if it was more than usual”. “Really the Glazer family need to address the situation and correct it. The quality of the squad isn’t fit for goal and it is something the Glazer family need to address immediately before the situation deteriorates any further”.
Moyes was axed with the club in similar disarray two years ago but the Scot does not believe another dismissal would be right.
“If you compare the situation to the Moyes situation, it is far worse”, Bones said. Maybe they are waiting to see when it is mathematically impossible to finish in the top four.
“I was disappointed when I lost my job after 10 months”.
